  74. This package contains the SymmeToy(TM) <ASP> program (Version 1.0),
  75. by Hufnagel Software.  SymmeToy is a symmetric art program that allows
  76. you to view, recolor and print 8 supplied symmetric pictures and 3D
  77. models.  You can also create your own symmetric art which shares the
  78. underlying symmetry of the supplied art.  You can create symmetric
  79. patterns and roses, Escher-like drawings and decorated 3D models using
  80. SymmeToy.

  82. SymmeToy is a Windows program and will perform best on 486 systems
  83. running at 33mhz or faster, containing at least 4mb of memory, and
  84. equipped with at least a 256 color video card.  A color printer is
  85. optional.
  86.  
  87. This is a shareware version of SymmeToy and includes all features of
  88. the program, and is not crippled in any way, but this version does
  89. include only 8 pieces of symmetric art.  If you like the shareware
  90. version, you will want to order the registered version to get all 25
  91. styles of symmetric art, many additional 3D models and 10 Windows
  92. wallpaper patterns created with SymmeToy.  The registered version also
  93. includes a 46 page manual that explains how to use the program and
  94. provides interesting information on the science and history of symmetry
  95. and symmetric art.

  148. ===== Installation =====================================
  149.  
  150. The installation procedure for SymmeToy is quite simple.  The
  151. package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  152. entire process.  You will need about 2MB of available disk space
  153. on the hard drive on which you plan to install SymmeToy.
  154.  
  155. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  156. SymmeToy.
  157.  
  158.  
  159. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  160.  
  161. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  162.  
  163.    o  Place the SymmeToy distribution diskette in the appropriate
  164.       diskette drive.
  165.  
  166.    o  Start Windows and from the Program Manager click on FILE and then
  167.       on RUN.  Now type A:SETUP and press Enter.  SymmeToy will be
  168.       installed from your computer's A drive.
  169.  
  170.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.

  173. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  174.  
  175. If you downloaded SymmeToy from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  176. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  177. following steps.
  178.  
  179.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  180.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  181.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  182.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  183.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  184.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  185.       directions for doing this from the same source from which you
  186.       received the package.
  187.  
  188.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  189.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  190.       the SymmeToy package is C:\TEMPDIR, you should get into the
  191.       Windows Program Manager, click FILES and then click RUN.  Now
  192.       type C:\TEMPDIR\SETUP.EXE and press Enter to start the
  193.       installation.

  195. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  196. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed SymmeToy
  197. (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all its contents.

  202. Once you've complete the installation, double click on the SymmeToy
  203. icon to start the program.  Click on Help to get started using the
  204. program.  Have fun!

  210. will be added to your system.  Double click on this program's icon
  211. to remove SymmeToy from Windows and your hard disk.
